If you have been searching for a program to learn to play piano online , then you may have noticed that there are many piano courses readily available to get you going. They can come in different forms such as e-books, or software, they are easy to download, and some are even free.
There is no doubt about it, that you will have a wide variety of choices to choose from when it comes to learning to play piano online . Because of this, choosing a program that is right for you can quickly become an overwhelming and daunting task. So how do you choose a good program?
Take a deep breath and just relax, with these tips you will be on your way to finding a high quality program that wont break your budget.
1) Research
Before you purchase piano learning software, e-books, or online courses you will need to start by doing your research. Search on forums or blog posts for reviews, however don't let this frustrate you further, remember to take others comments with a grain of salt.
Don't discount a particular program because of one bad review. Remember people wont hesitate to share negative comments, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. However if you find a particular program receiving more than their share of negative flack, you may want to consider a different course.
2) Curriculum
Although learning to play piano online is fun, it is still LEARNING. You will need to consider the type of curriculum that a program offers. Take note of the course levels, and make sure they are geared towards you. For instance if you are just beginning don't buy an intermediate or advanced course, in hopes that you will be able to catch on, and save money in the long run by not having to purchase additional level courses.
This may seem like a no brainier, but you would be surprised how often people make this mistake. Each course is geared toward a particular level. One of my favorite courses is Learn and Master Piano. This is a wonderful ! course w ith a Grammy award winning artist as the instructor, and a super helpful online community. However this is geared for an intermediate player to become a pro, and would not be recommended for beginners. There are however wonderful courses that contain each level from beginner to intermediate to advanced, and good courses will have quality learning for each level.
3) Money Money Money
During these hard economic times, you should definitely keep the cost of a program in mind, but avoid basing your final decision on it. Keep this saying in your back pocket " You get what you pay for." No matter what, the cheapest course is probably not the best course online, but neither is the most expensive. Weigh each course based on the curriculum and learning style, then decided if the purchase price is within your means.
From time to time there may be online piano courses that provide free lessons as samples to their packages. As long as it is a quality course, don't hesitate to try out the freebies. If the instruction is well organized and you actually learn something, it may be the right course for you.
